The officer was bitten at a home on Primrose St in Phillipstown whereas responding to reviews of an individual appearing suspiciously.
A police spokesman stated the officer was bitten by a canine whereas making an attempt to make inquiries on the home.
The officer was taken to hospital with reasonable accidents.
Animal management had been suggested of the incident, the spokesman stated.
